3 historic stages of cycling matched with the hospitality of Piedmont and the unique authentic beauty of the territories.


Schedule

Day 1

Arrive to Saluzzo by own means in the morning.
Arrive to Manta and guided tour of the Castle, noble fortress renovated several times, famous for the cycle of sixteenth-century frescoes of the nine heroes and nine heroines and that of the Fountain of Youth.
Against the background of Monviso, stands out a medieval fortress with austere charm. Its baronial hall is home to one of the most spectacular examples of Late Gothic secular painting inspired by themes of chivalric novels.
Lunch at leisure.
Continue to the Po Valley and reach the Cistercian Abbey of Staffarda.
Built in the 12th century thanks to the support of the Marquis Manfredo I, it is still a large complex including the Romanesque-Gothic Church of Santa Maria, the Gothic cloister, the market and the guest quarters.
Move to Saluzzo and check-in to hotel.
Dinner based on local produce in a restaurant of Saluzzo and stroll in the magnificent city full of history and culture.
Saluzzo was the capital of a small State, the Marquisate of Saluzzo, for almost six hundred years, surrounded by great powers such as the Kingdom of France and the Duchy of Savoy.
Return to hotel and overnight accommodation.

Day 2

After a substantial breakfast in the hotel, very early departure for the climb from Saluzzo to Pian del Re.
Saluzzo has seen many passages and the departure of the Giro of 2000. Pian del Re has been twice arrival stage of the pink caravan in 1991 and 1992.

Departure from the historic centre of Saluzzo in the direction of Revello.
The first section of the road is flat in between the fruit orchards of Saluzzo, having left Barge you start the first climb; La Colletta di Rossana is approximately 3 km. After the top of the climb, you reach Paesana and entering the Po Valley you start the long climb towards the 2000 m of Pian del Re.
On the return trip towards Saluzzo the route crosses the Bronda Valley among vineyards and fruit orchards to reach the city centre.

Day 3

After breakfast, depart for the UNESCO world heritage hills. Arrive to Barolo in the Langhe. Visit the WIMU museum the most innovative wine museum of Italy, hosted in the imposing Falletti Castle of Barolo. Set up by Francois Confino, it will take you on an interactive and emotional journey of the world of wine, product and producer of culture, able to accompany the evolution of entire civilisations, and shape the face of entire territories.
At the end of the visit short transfer to a well-known winery to taste Barolo "the King of wines and the wine of Kings".
Arrive to a resort in Monforte d'Alba and dine in its famous bistro to appreciate the local cuisine.

Day 4

After breakfast, departure for the heroic stage Barbaresco Alba Barolo (43km)
You will retrace the time-trial of the Giro d'Italia 2014, on the UNESCO world heritage hills, among the vineyards of the DOCG Barbera Barolo Barbaresco and Moscato wines.

Return and free time to relax in the Spa of the resort or stroll in the characteristic centre of Alba, the city of the hundred towers, to purchase and taste local specialties. Alternatively, we can suggest a visit of St. Lawrence’s Cathedral, Mary Magdalena's Church and the House of Beppe Fenoglio, Italian writer, partisan, translator and playwright born in this city on 1 March 1922.
Dinner in the centre of Alba and overnight accommodation in Resort in Monforte d'Alba.

Day 5

Transfer to Mondovì. Leaving the car close to the old Station of Mondovì you can enter the historic centre of Breo, with its arcades and the magnificent piazzetta San Pietro. By funicular, you can reach Mondovì Piazza, the high part of the city, with the ancient piazza Maggiore and its arcades Soprani and Sottani. From there, reach the Belvedere and its ancient tower, from where you can catch an amazing sight of the entire Piedmontese Alpine Arch, not to be missed.
Lunch at leisure. In the afternoon, visit to the Sanctuary of Vicoforte or Sanctuary of the Nativity, magnificent example of Piedmontese Baroque, with the largest elliptical dome in the world, the fifth in terms of size. Here, we propose the Magnificat experience, a full-fledged ascent almost to touch the frescoes of the dome secured by a safety harness and then as far as the smaller dome, where at a height of 75 m the landscape of the Alps will be unforgettable.
Dinner and overnight accommodation in agriturismo near Mondovì.

Day 6

After breakfast, a short transfer to Ceva, departure point of the heroic stage Ceva Colle di Nava Sanremo (120km). On the roads that take to the sea, between the mountains of Valle Tanaro as far as Sanremo.
